Only office excuses
along with a completed band department excuse form will be accepted by the
director. All excuses will be placed in the student’s personal file.
All
excuses should be presented to the director on the following day or the next
rehearsal the student attends. Tardy or previously late students should wait
until the end of rehearsal instead of disturbing the band during rehearsal.
Pen should be provided with absentee slip for signature.
Every student should
bringinstruments, music, pencil
and proper equipment (reeds, oil, etc.) to every rehearsal and performance.
There will be no loud
talking or disturbance during rehearsals. Subdued talking is permitted with
the director’s permission or when the director leaves the podium. Talking
should cease when the director returns to the podium. Negative statements are
never allowed.If you can’t say
anything nice, don’t say anything. Remember: Never complain to anyone who
cannot fix the problem and never listen to complaints if you cannot fix the
problem. Thoughts, actions, and reality are a circle; if you perceive it to be
good and act like it to be good it will feel good.
Gum
chewing and or eating is not permitted during rehearsal or performance.
Each student should be
seated or standing in formation at the time designated by the director. Tardy

Posture is of utmost
importance. Students should avoid crossed legs or ankles or slumping when
seated in chairs.
The
bulletin boards and chalkboards should be read when entering the room.
Students are not allowed to write on the chalkboard or add anything without
the director’s approval, to the bulletin boards. Posted information should
never be removed or altered.
Music folders,
instruments and equipment should be kept in proper storage places when not in
use. The school district or its representatives are not responsible for damage
to the instruments. Students are encouraged to take their instruments home
each day. Music and folders should not be left on the music stands.
Books and personal
belongings should not be left in the band hall or storage rooms. All trash
should be thrown in the waste container. Students should not bring books or
other non-music reading material to their seats.
Loud talking, shouting
or horseplay is not allowed in the band department.
Personal phone calls
are not permitted except calls made to parents after night rehearsals or
performances.
The
computer is for band related activities. No surfing, e-mails, chatting, or
instant messages are allowed. The school policy states the computer is not to
be used, except for school business during school hours. Before or after
school the computer may be used to do school related activities.
